Annie Merle “Ann” Folds Newton, 86, of Norman Park, passed away at her home peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. 

The Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Andy Cashwell officiating. Brion Hargraves, Justin Hargraves, DJ Vanzant, Nick Newton, Andrew Newton, and Jonathan Ray will serve as pallbearers. Karl Ledford and Leonard Eichhorn will be honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Garden. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Mount Olive Baptist Church. 

She was born on May 30, 1938, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Robert Folds and Irene Hobgood Folds. Throughout her life, she worked as a secretary for Frank McCall before eventually owning Ann F. Newton's Secretarial Services. Her commitment to work and the people around her was evident in everything she did. Ann was known for her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication to helping others. She was a shining example of a loving mother, a nurturing grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend. Mrs. Newton's faith was an integral part of her life, as she was a long-time active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Her mission in life was to uplift and assist others, a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Mrs. Newton had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her joy and pride. Her memory will be cherished by all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton H. Newton, Jr.; her siblings, Juanita Hicks, Bobby Folds, Ophelia Goddard, and Tony Folds; sons-in-law; Jerry Hargraves and Jimmy Vanzant. 

Mrs. Newton is survived by her son, Bubba Newton and wife Sheila; daughters, Penny Newton Hargraves; Pam Newton Vanzant, Paula Newton Dotson and husband Randy, and Rena Newton Ray and husband Tom; grandchildren, Brion Hargraves and wife Iesha, Justin Hargraves, Brooke Dougherty and husband Shane, DJ Vanzant and wife Jessica, Heather Taylor and husband Jason, Brantly Dotson and wife Anna, Carley Pecoraro and husband Frankie, Jonathan Ray, Nick Newton and wife Megan, Danielle Richardson and husband Sean, and Andrew Newton; great-grandchildren, Caleb Hargraves, Tanner Hargraves, Leo Dougherty, Samson Dougherty, Maggie Dougherty, Thoreau Dougherty, Aubrielle Taylor, Paisley Taylor, Jewel Taylor, Maddie Newton, and Davis Richardson; sister, Judy Jones; brothers, Donald Folds and wife Jenny, and John Folds and wife Susan; sisters-in-law, Roma Eichhorn and husband Gary, Dorothy Lee Newton, and Laverne Sapp; and several special nieces and nephews.
